I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on the MyoHacker Podcast and I wanted to share a bit about that experience. I was invited by Karindy Ong to talk about a topic that’s very close to my heart and my clinical work: Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS).
During the episode, we focused on helping families better understand what apraxia is, how it’s diagnosed and why it’s often misunderstood. We also talked about what effective therapy for CAS looks like and why individualized, motor-based approaches are so important for supporting real progress.
One of the most meaningful parts of the conversation was highlighting the role parents play. Supporting a child with apraxia can be emotionally challenging and families often carry a lot of uncertainty. We discussed how intentional home practice, realistic expectations and collaboration between families and therapists can make a powerful difference.
Overall, this was an encouraging and practical conversation aimed at helping families feel informed, supported and less alone. If Childhood Apraxia of Speech is something your family is navigating, I hope this episode offers clarity and reassurance and that it reminds you that progress is possible with the right support!
